The Dog’s World

The first time we went to Castlewood State Park in Missouri was during the fall of 2007. Kati and I had just gotten back from Washington, D.C. and we were settling into our new apartment in St Charles. The weather was perfect! We took Maya and her brother Toby with us to Castlewood, which is a very cool park that’s located around the Ballwin area of St. Louis. At the park, we took Maya and Toby hiking and swimming in the Meramec River. Hiking, of course, came first. For some reason there weren’t a lot of people at the park that day so we were able to let Maya run off the leash for a while while we were on the trail. After a good 45 minute hike or so, we took Maya and Toby down to a part of the park that has a nice beach area next to the Meramec River. Again, not a lot of people were around, so we let Maya off her leash and she had a blast jumping in and out of the river. She would chase sticks for hours if we let her.
